How To Parboil Rice

Parboiling rice is simply to just to remove excess starch from the rice to prevent that stickiness or marshy-looking rice. Parboiled rice can be used for further cooking naija delicacies like the respected jollof rice, fried rice,coconut rice, rice rice rice...lets get started 



So,ingredients needed are:
  • Long grain rice
  • Water
  • NO salt 
Steps:                                                                                               
  1. wash the rice in a bowl with water ( i mean clean water o, and its not really necessary since you're parboiling it...just to take out more starch)
  2. Transfer the washed rice into a pot and fill with water well enough above the rice
  3. Leave it to cook on high heat for like 15-20 mins ( when the water starts boiling sha)
  4. OYA O! listen carefully o-the rice is under cooked if it hard when pressed and overcooked if too soft when pressed
  5. When the rice is bounces back when pressed and the water is still boiling
  6. Take it off heat with a kitchen towel ( if you use your hands alone,na u sabi o)
  7. Using a colander ( or sifter), drain the water and rinse again with cold water 2-3 times
          And your rice is ready to be further cooked as Jollof rice, Fried rice, Coconut rice...rice rice rice....
